Dr. Rebecca Deurlein, aka Dr. D, is a lifelong teacher, mother of two young adults, and a writer. She holds a doctorate in education and has spent her lifetime researching teen behavior and learning strategies.
Dr. D is a seasoned public speaker who shares a combination of humorous personal experiences, educational research, and down-to-earth practical advice for parents. She volunteers in the Houston community, chairing the Literacy Initiative for Sugar Land Rotary and donating her writing and marketing skills to several non-profit organizations. She serves on the Board of Directors for Achieve Fort Bend, a dropout prevention program focused on fostering teen motivation and career exploration, and the Literacy Council of Fort Bend, building adult literacy.
Her business, Teenager Success 101, allows her to help students everywhere get a leg up on the competition. Dr. D lives in Houston, Texas. She formerly taught in a Houston private school; the Naperville Public School System, outside of Chicago, IL; The Forsyth County School System in Atlanta, GA; and the Roanoke Public School System in Roanoke, VA. She owns a freelance writing business and in her spare time enjoys combat kickboxing and yoga.
